A program to grow
Rooted Care
Steady caregivers grow steady kids. We keep the people at the center of a child's world supported, connected, and sure of their next step.
When a placement holds, it is almost never an accident: there is a caregiver holding it. Rooted Care supports the biological, foster, and adoptive parents and caregivers raising children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, because placement stability begins with caregiver stability.
Three ways we show up
A mentor who has lived it
We pair newer caregivers one-on-one with experienced ones: people who have sat in the same IEP meetings, weathered the same hard nights, and can say with authority that this gets easier, and here is how.
A room that gets it
Monthly support groups, in person and virtual, where nobody needs the backstory explained. Raising a child with IDD can be isolating; an honest room of people who understand is the antidote.
A guide through the maze
PUNS. Medicaid waivers. Independent Service Coordination. Respite care. We help families find their way through the DCFS and Illinois Department of Human Services systems, because the acronyms should never be the hardest part of caring for a child.
Nobody should have to learn this system alone.
