Voices Rising
Every child has something to say. We make sure the world can hear it.
Spoken words, pictures, signs, and devices are all communication, and every child deserves access to whichever method lets their voice be heard. Voices Rising brings augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) to youth who need it, along with something just as important: people around them who know how to listen.
What we provide
- Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) materials, ready to use
- Hands-on help obtaining AAC devices
- Functional communication training that heads off breakdowns before they start
- Caregiver training in how to model, prompt, and respond, because an AAC system without trained communication partners is a device gathering dust
The lending library
Higher-cost speech-generating devices get delayed and denied, and it happens disproportionately to children in foster care. Our AAC lending library bridges that gap with a borrowed device on day one, so no child spends the appeal process waiting in silence.
A funding delay should never silence a child.
